RJD MLA Mohammad Nehaluddin, his bodyguard and 12 others were kidnapped today by Maoists who also torched his vehicle in Aurangabad district.

Over 100 Maoists surrounded the vehicle of Nehaluddin, who is seeking another term from Rafiganj, and took him hostage when he was campaigning at Laltenganj village, SP Vivek Raj Singh told PTI.

They damaged and torched his vehicle and took him away, he said.

According to official sources, the bodyguard and 12 others accompanying the MLA were also reported missing, but Mr. Singh said the report was being verified.

In Patna, DGP Neelmani said Mr. Nehaluddin’s family members have lodged a complaint.

The Maoists have given a call for boycott of the assembly elections in Bihar.

The Rafiganj assembly constituency will go to poll in the final phase on November 20.
