Maoists blasted three feet of railway track near Tilrath railway station in Begusarai district and triggered a bomb blast on a railway line near Kursela station in Khagaria district.

The Maoists used dynamite to blow up the tracks in Begusarai district at about 11:15 p.m. last night disrupting rail traffic in the Barauni-Katihar section of the East Central Railway for over six hours, ECR’s Chief Public Relation Officer Dilip Kumar told PTI .

After the blast, they gave a leaflet to the gangman Ram Naresh Yadav posted at railway crossing no 53 claiming responsibility, Kumar said.

The Maoists also planted a bomb on a railway line near Kursela station in Khagaria district, but the explosion did not damage the lines, he said.

Leaflets left behind by the ultras claimed that the blasts were in retaliation for the death of ten colleagues in a gunbattle with criminals near the confluence of river Ganga-Gandak in Hiranman diara area in Munger district on November 29.
