Manufacture, sale, of drug suspended

The Centre has suspended the manufacture, sale and distribution of dextropropoxyphene, and all formulations containing this drug, with immediate effect in the country. This action was taken under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

All manufacturers in the State as well as all drug distributors, wholesalers and medical stores, chemists and druggists in Goa have been directed to suspend and stop further manufacture, sale and distribution of the drug in the State with immediate effect.

Returned

All existing stocks available at the retailers, wholesalers, doctors, hospitals, dispensaries, etc., should be returned to the respective suppliers, wholesalers, and manufacturers under intimation to the State Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (FDA). All doctors, hospitals, government hospitals etc. have been asked to take note of the suspension and act accordingly.
