A day after Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi called his predecessor Nitish Kumar his elder brother and declared that he was his Lakshmana, Mr. Manjhi on Wednesday reiterated his solidarity with Mr. Kumar on his home turf, dispelling reports of a rift between them.

In the course of his ongoing Sampark Yatra, Mr. Kumar was in Gaya, home town of Mr. Manjhi, to address party leaders and workers. In an apparent bid to convey the message that there were no differences between them, the two shook hands.

“We share a good understanding to take the work of development of the State forward. I’m his younger brother like Lakshmana in Ramayana and he is my elder brother,” said Mr. Manjhi and added that every word of Mr. Kumar was like Sanjeevni [life-saving medicine] to him.
