Parents, students and students’ organisations in Manipur are taken aback that the principal of a higher secondary school in Imphal allowed 86 students to appear in the Class 12 examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) using of fake admit cards. It transpires that Jawan Oinam, Principal of Ramkrishna Higher Secondary School in Imphal had issued fake admit cards to these students of his school to mislead them to appear in the said examination.

However, some of the students who had appeared in most of the subjects had become suspicious. When they checked the roll numbers of their admit cards, it was found that there were no such documents in their names.

On Friday, the students along with volunteers of the Manipuri Students Federation stormed the school. However, the principal is absconding. The infuriated students vandalised the school building and furniture. Nandababu, the general secretary of the MSF told reporters that the school is not recognised by the CBSE. Concealing this fact, the principal had admitted gullible students to his school. On the eve of the CBSE examination he had issued fake admit cards.

He appealed to the Education Minister Okendra Moirangthem to look into the matter since it concerns the career of the students. He also said that the school is closed down till the impasse is sorted out.

Police are looking for the absconding principal.
