Manipur militant killed in clash

One militant was killed and three others, including the leader, were injured in an ambush said to have been carried out by a rival faction along the Highway 37 on Wednesday afternoon.

S.K. Thadou, chairman of the United Tribals Liberation Army (UTLA), Thadou group, and four others were coming towards Imphal along the Highway on Wednesday. Kailun Haokip, a cadre was killed on the spot as he was hit in the head. Others were wounded.

Police and Assam Rifles personnel rushed to the scene, admitted the injured cadres to a nearby hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be serious.

Police suspect Robert faction's hand as both Thadou and Robert's group have been resorting to exchange of fire every now and then.
