Manipur blockade leaves bus passengers high and dry

April 19, 2010 11:17 pm | Updated 11:17 pm IST - IMPHAL:

Passengers travelling to Imphal from various States by bus have to trudge 40 km from Khuzuma in Nagaland to Senapati in Manipur, bound by an economic blockade and general strike launched by the All-Naga Students' Association Manipur and tribal organisations.

Only local buses have been exempted from the protest, which has also resulted in the prices of all commodities soaring. Aged passengers, women and children are staying back in stranded buses near Khuzuma.
