Man throws acid on bride

A young girl suffered serious injuries when a youth threw acid on her at a beauty parlour in Ludhiana’s posh Sarabha Nagar locality on Saturday. A few other girls escaped with minor injuries.

Police Commissioner Nirmal Singh Dhillon said a case had been registered and hunt initiated for the culprit. However, reports said that at least one person had been detained for questioning.

The 22-year-old girl from Barnala district was getting her bridal makeup done when the youth barged in and threw acid on her. He fled in a car that was waiting outside with its engine running.

Medical Superintendent of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, where the victim was immediately rushed to, told reporters that her condition was serious. She had suffered 45 to 60 per cent burn injuries on her face, chest, abdomen and limbs.
