Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was allegedly slapped by a youth during a roadshow organised by the Congress in Panipat on Sunday afternoon. The youth, identified as Kamal Makhija, was frustrated as he could not clear an interview for a government job, initial reports say. Congress leaders and officials of the district administration have denied the attack.

District Police Chief, Panipat, B. Satheesh Balan, told presspersons that Makhija had been arrested for breaching the security cordon and a case registered.

Mr. Balan is reported to have told local presspersons that Makhija had been under medication for depression
