Expressing the determination to end Left rule in Tripura, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday predicted that her party would win at least 36 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking at a rally in Santir Bazar in south Tripura, she said her party MPs would air the sufferings of the State’s people under Left rule.
Here on her second round of campaigning in support of party nominees in the State, Ms. Banerjee reiterated her charge that the Congress, CPI(M) and the BJP had struck up a secret nexus but insisted it would not deter the Trinamool’s progress.
The Chief Minister said Tripura was lagging behind in various sectors, including health, education, agriculture and sanitation.
“People of Tripura are deprived of their basic amenities and rights under CPI(M) rule”, Ms. Banerjee alleged, highlighting schemes she initiated after coming to power in West Bengal. “I have defeated CPI(M) in Bengal and will do it here too... I will keep on coming in the State.”
