Lt. Col. Prasad S. Purohit, the prime accused in the Malegaon blast case, along with co-accused Ajay Rahirkar and Rakesh Dhawde, were produced in the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Friday.

The bail applications of the accused were restored to the MCOCA court following an order by the Bombay High Court early this week.

Bail applications filed

The defence on Friday filed fresh bail applications of Sudhakar Dwivedi alias Dayanand Pandey and Jadgdish Mhatre.

The prosecution is slated to present its argument on August 2 in the case. The blast occurred on September 29, 2008.

The case was transferred back to the special court after the Division Bench of Justices B. H. Marlapalle and Anoop V. Mohta quashed the revocation of MCOCA, in response to an appeal filed by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad challenging it.
