Maharashtra Government expects to receive financial assistance worth Rs. 2,000 crore from three global institutions, including World Bank, to fund various agricultural projects in the state over the next 5 years, a senior Government official said.
“We plan to implement various agricultural projects with an investment of Rs 2,000 crore from World Bank, Asian Development Bank and International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD),” Maharashtra Government’s Principal Secretary, Co-Operation and Marketing, S. K. Goel, told reporters here on Saturday.
The State government plans to finance projects including convergence of agricultural interventions, agri—business infrastructure development and Maharashtra Agriculture Competitiveness project using this money, Goel said.
The state has already received sanction from IFAD for the Rs. 600 crore funding for the Convergence of Agricultural Interventions. Under this project, the Government plans to start 120 new projects across the state over the next five years, Mr. Goel said.
CAI is a project started by the Maharashtra Government to contribute to the development of resilient production and also envisages allowing households to face production and market risks.
