A senior leader each from the Congress and BJP in Madhya Pradesh would cross swords against each other once again this time for the October 13 Assembly elections in Maharashtra.

The Congress General Secretary, Digvijay Singh, who hails from Madhya Pradesh is a member of the Congress Election Committee for Maharashtra while Kaptan Singh Solanki is the BJP Organising Secretary for Maharashtra.

Mr. Solanki who was recently elected to Rajya Sabha was in this post for Madhya Pradesh in December 2003 when the Congress lost the Assembly elections in the state after 10 years of Mr. Digvijay Singh’s Chief Ministership.

Mr. Singh has already toured a number of places in Maharashtra as part of the Congress campaign for the Assembly elections while Mr. Solanki is currently campaigning in Mumbai.

“The time has come for the present Maharashtra government to go,” Mr. Solanki told PTI from Mumbai.

Mr. Singh had played an active role before the last Assembly elections were held in Maharashtra in 2004.

His skills as an election manager would be put to test for the second time in Maharashtra now.
