Maharashtra Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme and Water conservation Nitin Raut’s son Kunal Raut was on Thursday arrested by Madhya Pradesh police from Pipariya town on charges of assaulting a forest officer and a few road construction labourers.

“He intimidated and roughed up the deputy Forest Ranger Ijaj Ahmad and some construction laborers near a toll booth in Pipariya” informed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Pipariya Police station.

“We have arrested Kunal Raut, Sanmeet Joli, Antarneet Gotra and Swapnil Telang and have charged them under section 34, 232,294,332,353 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code” the SHO told The Hindu over phone.

Meanwhile, Kunal Raut and his three friends were sent to 15 days judicial custody by a court in Pipariya on Firday.

Kunal Raut is the general secretary of the Youth Congress’ Maharashtra state unit.

Mr. Nitin Raut and his office refused to respond to the arrest of his son.
