The Chandigarh administration on Wednesday began a magisterial probe into the expulsion of the teenage molestation victim from a school here in September 1990.

“Sub-Divisional Magistrate Prerna Puri was in the school to conduct an enquiry. School authorities cooperated with her and we are ready to extend any kind of help to the administration,” said the spokesperson of the school.

Terming the molestation incident and subsequent suicide by the girl “unfortunate,” he said: “We believe that it is not possible to expel any student under any kind of pressure. We are trying to ascertain the allegations of expulsion and also whether she was withdrawn from the school by her parents.”

It was alleged that the former Director-General of Police, S.P.S. Rathore, who molested the girl, used his powers to get the victim, who at that time was in class X, expelled as his own daughter was her schoolmate.
