The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed actor Madhuri Dixit as the brand ambassador for its Mamta Abhiyaan (maternal and child health) campaign.

Ms. Dixit will kick off her campaign here on June 26 with an event organised in collaboration with Unicef’s Bhopal unit.

Maternal health

The Mamta Abhhiyaan was launched last year by the Health Department as part of a move to bring down the maternal and infant mortality rates and improve maternal and child health in the State by providing better facilities.

Preparations are under way for a visit by actor Aamir Khan here to inaugurate a separate centre for women at the State-run J.P. Hospital on June 16.
