Orissa is likely to receive heavy rains in next 48 hours due to the formation of a low pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal, officials at cyclone warning centre said.

Under its impact, gusty wind speed reaching up to 65 km per hour was likely to blow over the state’s coastal areas, they said, adding that sea condition would be very rough during the period.

While the fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea, the weather office said rain and thundershowers were likely to occur at most places in the state.
