‘Love affair’ sparks clash in Vadodara village

An alleged inter-faith love affair led to a clash between two communities in Dhanyavi village in Vadodara on Monday.

According to the police, the clash was the result of “personal rivalry” between two families.

“Although one side was willing to compromise, the father of the girl was agitated and led an assault with weapons, but the police was present and brought the situation under control after firing three rounds in the air,” Sadip Singh, Superintendent of Police, Vadodara Rural, told The Hindu .

An FIR has been registered against 36 people, of which 29, including the girl’s father, have been arrested. The police also seized 24 weapons, comprising of swords, sticks and a 12-bore rifle, Mr. Singh said.
