Lookout notice for Anantnag attackers

June 07, 2016 12:47 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:08 am IST - Srinagar:

Taking cognisance of a video in which two armed militants were spotted firing at the police in Anantnag on Saturday, security agencies on Monday issued lookout notices and circulated posters in south Kashmir.

The posters in Urdu have the video grabs of the militants. Unidentified bystanders had videotaped the two Lashkar-e-Taiba militants loading their guns in a busy market and opening fire at the policemen, leaving two dead, on Saturday morning. The video later went viral on social media.

The security agencies have identified one of the militants as Junaid Ahmad Mattoo, son of Manzoor Ahmad, a resident of Khudwani, Kulgam.

Another is identified as Ali, who is believed to be a non-local. Mattoo is believed to have joined the Lashkar last year.

“People are requested to help the police in arresting these militants before they commit another such activity to harm citizens,” reads the notice.

Since May 25, militants struck four times in the Valley and left six policemen and three BSF personnel dead.
