LJP on Wednesday made a strong pitch for implementing the recommendations of the Ranganath Mishra Commission report, which has advocated reservation for Muslims.
Addressing a rally held jointly with the Peace Party and Bharitya Samaj Party in the Muslim-dominated Parliamentary constituency, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan also sought a ban on the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal.
“17 years after the demolition of Babri mosque, the Liberhan Commission submitted its report indicting the BJP leaders for the demolition. However, not a single leader has been punished so far ... There should be a ban on RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal,” the former Union Minister said.
He added that after the Sachchar committee explained the socio-economic condition of Muslims as similar to dalits, another commission headed by Ranganath Mishra recommended reservation for Muslims and scheduled caste status to dalits among Muslims.
“But Mishra commission report has not been implemented till date. Reservation should be there for the minorities,” he said.
The LJP leader also attacked the UP chief minister, alleging Ms. Mayawati was discriminating among dalits.
Mr. Paswan said the BSP supremo changed her slogan from ‘bahujan’ to ‘sarvjan’ but the hopes generated after her coming to power have now evaporated and dalits were disappointed.
LJP is trying to consolidate muslim and dalit votes in Eastern UP and Mr. Paswan is set to address two more rallies in the coming days.
