A batch of 106 children was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after a part of a lizard was found in their mid-day meal in Bihar’s Sheohar district.

The mid-day meal at Sugia Katsari middle school was cooked for about 350 students. One of them found a part of a lizard in the food causing panic among the children. All of them were therefore rushed to the hospital, of which everyone except found were discharged, Sheohar superintendent of police Himanshu Shankar Trivedi told The Hindu .

None of the children he said displayed any pathological symptoms such as vomiting or nausea. The head of the lizard was recovered from the food and sent for forensic examination, Mr. Trivedi said.

The district administration said all the children were doing well.

Amarjit Sinha, principle secretary, Education, has sought a detailed inquiry report from the district magistrate and the mid-day meal office.
