Life in Kashmir returned to normalcy on Monday after remaining disrupted for two days over the killing of a youth in police firing in Budgam district even as authorities lifted the restriction on movement of separatist leaders in Kashmir.
Shops, schools and other business establishments opened while transport services plied normally on all routes in the valley, police said.
The separatists had called for a shutdown on Saturday to protest against the killing of two youths in an army operation in Tral area of Pulwama district last week. Another youth was killed in police firing at Narbal on the day of shutdown, leading to more protests at some places in the valley.
The government had placed all prominent separatist leaders under house arrest following the killing of Suhail Ahmad Sofi at Narbal on Saturday.
The house arrest orders against the separatist leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq were lifted on Monday morning.
Geelani, Mirwaiz, Nayeem Khan and Mohammad Yasin Malik visited the residence of slain boy at Narbal.
The situation across the valley so far is peaceful, a police spokesman said.
