The Goa Inspector General of Prisons has sought the opinion of the Law department on jailed MLA and former Minister Mickky Pacheco’s application seeking parole to attend the Goa Assembly session scheduled to start on Monday.

Activist lawyer Aires Rodrigues has strongly opposed the fresh bid by the jailed MLA to seek parole.

VIP treatment

Meanwhile, Principal South Goa District and Sessions Judge Nutan Sardessai has forwarded to the Inspector General of Prisons for necessary action the complaint filed by Mr. Rodrigues over the VIP treatment being again accorded to Pacheco at Sada Jail in gross violation of the Prison rules.

Pacheco, who was a Minister in BJP-led alliance government in the State, had to resign when Supreme Court upheld his conviction with jail term of six months in a 2006 case for slapping an electricity department Junior Engineer.
