Both the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India in Haryana have stepped up their campaign to make the July 5 strike by Opposition parties a success.
CPI (M) state secretary Inderjit Singh and CPI state council secretary Raghubir Singh Chaudhary in a press release on Thursday described the recent fuel price hike by the Centre as a “cruel attack on the common people.'' They added that the fuel prices had been hiked twice during the past three months.
The two parties have asked their units to conduct corner meetings and mobilize people to join the strike.
The two leaders accused the UPA Government of “squeezing the ordinary people with vengeance at a time when they were reeling under unprecedented inflation as a result of neo-liberal policies.''
They alleged that private companies were being given unbridled freedom of extorting people by decontrolling petroleum products.
