Labour law violations in several units detected

Haryana Labour Department has detected 199 violations of labour laws in various industrial establishments in the State.

The Department also recovered over Rs 7.31 lakh as fine and 242 prosecutions were launched and 141 convictions were obtained in the last month.

Under Factories Act, 1948, the Department conducted 66 inspections of various industrial establishments and launched prosecutions in 86 cases during the same period, a spokesperson of Labour Department said. Apart from this, 98 industrial disputes got settled by conciliation officers of the Labour Department and six disputes were withdrawn by workers or trade unions, he said.

He said that the Department is running 11 labour welfare centres in important industrial towns of the State.

In these centres, workers are provided with the facilities of reading room, library, knitting, training classes for women and other recreational activities. -- PTI
