Kumar Vishwas booked for code violation

March 08, 2014 08:30 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 06:35 pm IST - Lucknow:

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas and 20 party supporters were on Saturday booked for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.

Mr. Vishwas, the AAP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Amethi, was also booked for the violation of Section 144, which prohibits group assembly.

He, along with his supporters, entered Sultanpur district in a cavalcade without the permission of the administration and disrupted traffic, DM Pradip Kumar Yadav said.

The AAP, however, contested the administration's claims. Mr. Vishwas alleged that the administration was acting against him at the behest of the Congress and Samajwadi Party.

The AAP leader said he travelled to Sultanpur with a few supporters to meet the family of two labourers who were recently killed after a building under construction collapsed on them.

“Along with the family of the labourers we walked to the DM’s office to lodge a complaint. But ADM Sriram Yadav stopped us midway. A minor scuffle took place,” said AAP’s Amethi convener Hanuman Singh.

The AAP demanded that an FIR be lodged against the DM and the SSP for their alleged laxity towards the contractors of the building.
