The Kamtapur People’s Party (KPP) on Friday demanded the harassment of its leaders following the blast in Jalpaiguri district killing six people be stopped forthwith.
Claiming they did not support the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) called bandh on January 12, KPP central committee member Subal Roy submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate’s office listing their demands.
These also included CID probe in the recent cycle blast and a halt in the arrest of its cadre who are not involved in subversive activities, Mr. Roy told media later.
“We believe in political fight and recognition of our rights through casting of ballots,” Mr. Roy said.
Meanwhile an unclaimed bag before the DM’s office triggered scare in the town, police sources said.
The district headquarters is on edge following the recent blast in its outskirts, the sources said.
