A Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militant was killed in an encounter with a joint team of the Army and police on Wednesday in East Karbi Anglong district.
A defence spokesman here said the joint operation was launched at Nalbarigaon at around 4 A.M. based on specific intelligence input.
On being challenged, the militant fired on the security personnel, who opened controlled retaliatory fire in return. In the ensuing exchange of fire, the KPLT insurgent was killed, he said adding one 9 mm pistol along with ammunition, fired cases, one hand grenade and other war-like stores were recovered from the site.
