Geeta Koda, wife of former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda who was arrested by state vigilance department in a disproportionate asset case, will take over the charge of campaigning for Jai Bharat Samanta Party (JBSP) in the ensuing assembly elections in the absence of her husband.

“Geeta Koda will be contesting from Jagannathpur constituency in West Singhbhum. She will also campaign for party candidates in the absence of her husband,” JBSP election-in-charge Vinod Srivastav told PTI on Tuesday.

JBSP has put up nine candidates in Kolhan region comprising East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.

Mr. Srivastav said Ms. Geeta will address public meetings in constituencies where the party has fielded its candidates.

The dates of the meetings will be finalised soon, he said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Geeta has described her husband’s arrest as “politically motivated”.
