Former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda who is imprisoned in the Birsa Munda Central Jail on Monday fell down and sprained his hand during a scuffle, according to a senior police official.

“Koda was injured after he fell down after being pushed and shoved by some prisoners,” a senior jail official, declining to be quoted, told PTI.

“The x-ray report showed a slight sprain in his hand and he is being treated for it,” he said.

He said it could be related to protest against the jail administration’s recent restriction against meeting VIP inmates.

Mr. Koda, who was arrested on November 30, 2009 in a multi-crore scam during his tenure, is in judicial custody since then.
