Aam Aadmi Party's national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi said in Bhopal on Saturday that chief Arvind Kejriwal and senior leader Kumar Vishwas will stay in their respective constituencies of Varanasi and Amethi even after the elections.
“We are fighting the elections and will live in the places we are contesting from. Kejriwal ji will stay in Varanasi even after the elections. Kumar Vishwas has left home and shifted to Amethi months back. He has settled down there and devoted his time to campaigning,” she said at a press meet.
Ms. Ilmi was in Bhopal to attend a road show by AAP’s Bhopal candidate Rachna Dhingra - an activist fighting for rehabilitation of the 1984 gas tragedy victims. “Not just Rachna but every all the women of Bhopal are our candidate. Our MPs will not say that so this or that is a municipal councillor's or an MLA's job. She will get work done even if it means staging dharnas or gheraoing MLAs,” Ms. Ilmi told reporters.
Ms. Dhingra faces BJP state office secretary Alok Sanjar, Bhopal District Congress Committee (City) president PC Sharma and CPI’s Bhopal district secretary Shailendra Shaili in the polls on April 17. The BJP has held Bhopal since 1989.
“MP wants change,” added Ms. Ilmi. “People here are impressed even with a candidate who is mildly better than others.”
