Kejriwal misleading people on water issue: Haryana Minister

Haryana Agriculture and Irrigation Minister O.P. Dhankar on Thursday said that Haryana had not reduced even a drop of Delhi’s share of water and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should no mislead people on this issue.

Speaking to media persons, Mr. Dhankar said that Mr. Kejriwal was misleading people on the water issue and Haryana had not reduced the water supply to Delhi. He said Delhi was claiming that the water level in their water treatment plant had been reduced whereas today [on Thursday] Delhi was found misusing the same water.

As per the officers of the Haryana Government, 700 cusec water was released to Delhi from Sonepat through Munak Canal today [on Thursday] and 275 cusec water from Delhi Branch. Out of this, 400 cusec has gone down waste in Najafgarh and supplementary drain due to Delhi’s negligence.

The Minister said that Haryana was getting untreated water from Delhi. He suggested that Delhi should release treated water in the Yamuna. Moreover, the water which had been released by Delhi was not appropriate for irrigation, he added.

Mr. Dhankar said that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar along with him would meet Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Friday regarding special package for farmers whose crops were hit by rains and crop insurance scheme.
