Seven Kashmiri youths studying in a private university in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan suffered injuries when they were thrashed allegedly by a group of locals. After the incident on Wednesday evening, the students staged a demonstration on the university campus and boycotted the hostel mess.

The students had gone out of the Mewar University in Gangrar town to buy groceries. They entered into a scuffle with some locals on way to the market and were allegedly beaten up with sticks and bats.

While three students escaped with bruises, four others sustained serious injuries and were taken to a hospital, Tauseef Qureshi, a B.Pharma student hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, told The Hindu . The four students were discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Mr. Qureshi said his friends were on way to the market when some youth stopped them and asked them where they were from. “When they said Kashmir, the youth asked them about a social media video of CRPF personnel heckled in Budgam district and began thrashing them.”
