West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh on Saturday dubbed ‘shameless’ a section of Jadavpur University girl students who brought molestation charges against Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists.
Film screeningA section of Left student unions and ABVP students are at loggerheads over the screening of Vivek Agnihotri’s film Buddha in a Traffic Jam on the campus.
The open air screening of the film led to clashes between the two groups on May 6. Following the incident, the university filed a police complaint alleging molesting of girl students.
Reacting to the developments, Mr. Ghosh raised questions over the presence of girl students during the commotion during the film screeening.
“Those who fear so much for their modesty, why did they go there? This is shamelessness. Making such allegations [of molestation] is very cheap. These girls don’t deserve to be supported. They intentionally threw themselves on others and are now blaming others,” the BJP leader told journalists.
Backs ABVPMr. Ghosh also justified the presence of ABVP activists inside the university campus and said that as a student’s organisation, it had the right to reach out to the students.
