Journalist shot at and injured

Unidentified gunmen shot at and injured a senior journalist and Associate Editor of Arunachal Times Tongam Rina around 6 p.m on Sunday at Itanagar while she was about to enter her office premises.

She was rushed to R.K. Mission hospital. She is the president of Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists.

Arunachal Pradesh Director-General of Police Kanwaljit Deol told The Hindu Ms. Rina was shot at by miscreants from behind when she was approaching her office. “She is out of danger.”

Arunachal Pradesh Press Club Adviser and Editor of Arunachal Front Pradip Kumar said that Ms. Rina suffered bullet wound on her abdomen.

He said Ms. Rina was attacked and intimidated by miscreants earlier also.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki visited the hospital to enquire about Ms. Rina.

He also visited the spot to take stock of the situation.
