Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday said that it will contest the assembly elections in the state alone, unlike the Lok Sabha polls in which it had a tie-up with the Congress.
The party, however, did not rule out the possibility of post-poll tie up with the Congress.
“JMM will go alone in the fray. We neither have had any talks with the Congress over pre-poll alliance nor there is any such possibility because our high command has also made it clear that we will contest alone,” party general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Hemant Soren told reporters here.
“Our alliance (with Congress) is not to contest assembly elections but to form a stable government in the state,” he added.
Mr. Soren said JMM will not reach out to “any party” for pre-poll alliance and the party which is interested in forging a tie-up with it will have to come to it as “politics in Jharkhand is not possible without JMM“.
He said his party has almost completed preparations and is now waiting for announcement of dates of elections in the state, which has been under President’s Rule since February.
