J&K should name fourth bridge on Tawi on Major Akash Singh: NCP

The Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Congress Party on Thursday urged the State government to name the fourth bridge on river Tawi after Major Akash Singh Sambya, who laid down his life while foiling an infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

“Major Akash Singh was a brave officer. He sacrificed his life, but did not allow Pakistani militants to enter this side. We urged the state government to name fourth bridge on the name of this brave officer as a tribute to him,” Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Congress Party chief Thakur Randhir Singh told reporters on Thursday.

Regarding troop withdrawal demand by separatists and some political parties, Mr. Singh said, “How can there be troop withdrawal, when infiltration has increased and militancy is going on.”

The martyrdom of Major Akash and continued increase in cross-border infiltrations from Pakistan should be an eye opener for those, who shout for withdrawal of security forces from Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
