J&K govt to constitute a separate board for OBCs

To help in accelerating the pace of development and welfare of Other Backward Classes, Jammu and Kashmir government will constitute a separate board for the class.

The State is fast moving on the track of development and it is essential that government takes care of all the sections of the society so that they are benefited through the process, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said here on Thursday.

OBC have a key role to play in the all-round development of the State, he said, adding that the government is serious to ameliorate the category.

Earlier OBC was clubbed with Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe (SC/ST) boards.

For the welfare of farming community, a separate Kissan Welfare Board has already been set up which has started its working, he said.
