Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Hospital Employees' Union has urged the government to issue an order granting pension to JIPMER employees from the Consolidated Fund of India.

According to a release, the union demanded steps to fill more than 900 posts and fill vacancies in the administrative division as per recruitment rules.

Steps to immediately fill about 400 posts of nurses at the hospital should be taken as per the bed strength: patient ratio. They also wanted increase in patient care allowance from Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,400 and an order issued, the release said.

The work period of nearly 1,500 workers of JIPMER, who were recruited on leave vacancy/adhoc basis, should be made permanent and given all government concessions. All daily-rated workers who have completed more than 240 days of work should be regularised, the release said.
