Suraj Pancholi, boyfriend of Bollywood actor late Jiah Khan was on Tuesday sent to police custody till June 13. The prosecution informed the local court here that the Suraj’s custody is necessary after the allegations of threat, rape and assault were made against him in the note found in the wallet of late actor, who committed suicide last week.
Suraj was arrested on Monday by Mumbai police in under the charges of abetment of suicide.
Public prosecutor A.K. Pacharane told the court that police have found five more letter exchanged between both and wanted to verify the content of it. He also said that the police is in the possession of CCTV footage of hotel where both had gone on the day when the actor committed a suicide.
The court rejected the argument of Suraj’s lawyer Zameer Khan that the note which is the basis of police investigation has not named Suraj. Mr. Khan told the court that Jiah was obsessive and possessive. He added that, 21-year-old Suraj could not have given any commitment to 25-year-old Jiah, as their courtship was only 8 months old.
Accepting the prosecutions claim, magistrate Seema Jadhav remanded Suraj to the police custody till June 13.
Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan on Monday had claimed that the ‘trauma and abuse’ of Suraj and his father Aditya was the reason behind her daughter’s suicide and not the failure in film industry.
