JD(S) to contest 100 seats

The Janata Dal(Secular) will contest 100 seats in the Bihar Assembly elections, its president and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has said.

Mr. Gowda also appointed the former Union Minister Devendra Prasad Yadav, who merged his Socialist Janata Dal (Democratic) with the JD(S) here on Tuesday, the party's national vice-president. The Sampoorna Kranti Dal, a regional party led by Bal Mukund Sharma, also merged with the JD(S), in the presence of its secretary Kunwar Danish Ali, on Wednesday.
