JCO injured in firing in Poonch sector in J&K

A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was injured today when unidentified persons from across the border fired at a patrol team along the Line of Control in Poonch sector.

A team led by JCO Naib Subedar Shahji Memami was patrolling the LoC between Anandsagar and Bhalla posts in Mankote forward area of Mendhar sector of Poonch district, when some unidentified persons fired at them round 0130 hours, an Army officer told PTI.

The JCO sustained a bullet injury and has been hospitalised. His condition is stated to be out of danger, the officer said.

There was no retaliatory fire by the troops and a search operation was conducted in the morning in the area but nothing was found, he said.
