A Haryana-based body of the Jat community approached the Supreme Court on Wednesday against a Punjab and Haryana High Court order staying the grant of reservation to Jats and five other castes under the newly-carved Backward Classes (C) category.
The High Court verdict on May 26 came on a plea challenging the constitutional validity of the Haryana Backward Classes (Reservation in Services and Admission in Educational Institutions) Act 2016 passed unanimously by the State Assembly on March 29.
