Jammu Bar to observe 2 day strike over Justice Saghir report

Jammu Bar Association will go on a two-day strike from Monday against the recommendations of the Justice Saghir Ahmad’s report on Centre-State relations.

“We will observe strike on 11th and 12th of January against the Justice report. It is anti-Jammu, anti-Ladakh and anti-people. It has addressed a section of political leadership in Kashmir,” JBA President Sunil Sethi told reporters on Sunday.

No lawyer would attend the courts on these two days, he said, adding the BJA would also take out protest rally and hold demonstrations during these two days.

“We reject the Justice Saghir Ahmed report. We want cancellation of the report by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and reconstitution of new working group on Centre-State relations immediately,” Mr. Sethi said.

It is unfortunate that without the consent and participation of other members of the working group, the report was exclusively submitted to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, he said.
