It is Modi versus Modi in Vadodara with a namesake of BJP’s Prime Ministerial joining the fray as an Independent candidate in this Lok Sabha constituency.

While BJP’s Narendra Modi filed his nomination on Wednesday, so did Independent candidate Narendra Babulal Modi.

According to his affidavit, 49-year-old Narendra Babu Lal Modi is a businessman by profession and has a masters degree in commerce from SV College in Ahmedabad.

Among other candidates, Balkrishna Shukla has filed nomination as a covering candidate for BJP. While Congress has nominated Madhusudan Mistry, Asifkhan Pathan is contesting on Samajwadi Party ticket and Kanabha Jadav is on Janta Dal (U) ticket. Sunil Kulkarni is contesting from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Madhusudhan Rohit is contesting from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Rest are Independent candidates.

As many as 17 candidates are in the fray for the April 30 polls and last day for withdrawing nominations is April 12.
