IS flags, act of ‘foolish’ youths, says Omar

October 15, 2014 05:06 am | Updated May 23, 2016 03:52 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday downplayed appearance of Islamic State (IS) flags in the Kashmir Valley as an act by “some foolish’’ young persons.

“Unfortunately, some television channels tried to sensationalise it and also dragged me into this as if we are not doing anything about this. Appearance of some flags does not mean that the group has a cell or presence in the Valley,’’ Mr. Abdullah told journalists after meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here.

The Chief Minister said IS flags had appeared on three occasions and each time a case was registered. “The tailor who made this flag has also been identified,’’ he said.
