The Centre’s interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir, who were scheduled to meet several delegations to discuss the recommendations made in their report, on Sunday faced protests by activists of various organisations, following which they were forced to return from the meeting venue.
Demonstrations staged
As interlocutors Dilip Padgaonkar and Professor Radha Kumar arrived at the venue on Sunday morning, activists of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Sangharsh Samiti Kranti Dal and Panun Kashmir staged demonstrations against them, compelling them to leave the area.
The interlocutors held the conference after the protesters were dispersed from the venue.
Meanwhile, the protesters said the interlocutors must return as their report had been rejected.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party has already rejected the report, and so we do not want to see them [the interlocutors] here,” BJYM State president Munish Sharma told journalists. The interlocutors arrived here from Srinagar, where they met a cross-section of people during the past three days.
Panel meets delegations
The panel also met a few delegations to obtain inputs about the recommendations made in the report.
The BJP, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Panun Kashmir boycotted the meeting.
