Five people have been named in the FIR by the victim’s kin

The body of a 45-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. The body bore no injury marks, a senior police officer said here. The motive of the crime is unknown but five persons have been as accused in the FIR registered at the Ranipur police station by the victim’s kin.


According to a PTI report, Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Singh said that the woman, from a backward caste, went missing on Tuesday night.She was reportedly abducted, gang-raped and later hanged, the Additional SP added. About the nature of the crime, the State IG (Law and Order), Amrendra Kumar Sengar said the autopsy was being performed at the District Hospital and the post-mortem report was awaited.

He said the FIR has been lodged under Sections 302 and 376 of IPC.


The woman on her way to receive medical treatment in Lucknow. Her body was found hanging from a tree in Gauria Lunianpurwa village at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Mr. Sengar said.

Five persons, Raju, Onkar, Vinay Kumar, Ram Swaroop and Naeem have been named in the FIR, the IG said.
