After spending over 40 days in jail for illegal stay at the Mussoorie-based Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Ruby Choudhary was granted bail on Saturday.
Ms. Choudhary's lawyer Rajiv Raturi told The Hindu: “The prosecution was unable to prove the purpose of her stay at the IAS academy, so she was granted bail.”
The case of Ms Choudhary, who was illegally staying at LBSNAA, surfaced in April. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case.
Ms Choudhary, who stayed at the academy impersonating an IAS probationer, had levelled allegations against some officials and staff at the academy. Last month, the SIT had quizzed some academy officials.
Uttarakhand Director-General of Police (DGP) B. S. Sidhu had requested the State government to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, the government decided against it.
