Imphal blast: Security personnel succumbs to injuries

Rajiv Sharma, personnel of 40 Assam Rifles, who was injured in the remote controlled bomb blast on Monday at Keishampat in Imphal succumbed to the injuries in the hospital late in the night. The 32-year-old personnel had hailed from Himachal Pradesh. His mortal remains were handed over to the Assam Rifles on Tuesday after post mortem.

One civilian who was injured in the blast is said to be out of danger. The Assam Rifles personnel were on routine foot patrolling when the bomb was detonated. No underground organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast. Police had beefed up security measures in and around Imphal in view of a tourism festival. Over 200 foreign officials and tourists are participating in the 10 day festival. The blast had not dampened the spirit of the people since thousands had thronged in the fair venue in Imphal even after the incident.
